the "what's your tarot card" project
Every Tarot card in every Tarot deck tells a story all it's own. No two cards are exactly alike. The cards carry neither positive nor negative stories with them, the Meaning is all in the eye of the Beholder, the Reader. Each card's uniqueness means that people are drawn to the stories inherent in each card, and each person is drawn to a card for a different reason. There's a story there. I want to learn that story.
This is a project I've had in mind for a long time now. I love the mysticism, that simple ancient beauty, that surrounds Tarot cards, and I love the way people react to seeing, touching, and holding a card in their hands, especially a card that means something to them, either deeply personal or just because they like the picture. So I set out to discover as many different people's card as I can, to try and reach out to each person and discover a little something about someone new, and a little about myself in the process.
Some people select a card a random, letting Fate decide their card for them. Some people have done extensive readings and a card always pops up for them, some want me to select their card, still others are drawn to the meaning they put to the picture on the card, sometimes a certain card just "speaks" to them. Each person is different, just like each card. It's that uniqueness of person that I'm searching for in this project. The cards themselves are meaningless...it's about the story behind why each person chooses the card they select that matters.

news
Well... the big big news is that nowhereman graphics has gone from being my primary business to being my secondary income. It was a decision long in the making that had much more to do with home personal reasons than anything else. My beautiful wife is currently working on her prerequisite courses in a bid to go back to school full-time to get her Masters in Teaching from Seattle University. This means that our mortgage required a stable income that can support both of us, plus health insurance. We talked long and hard about it, and we came to the conclusion that the best way for this to work would be for me to go out and get a full-time job utilizing my design talents and experience.
This led me to Papugai Inc. where I'm in charge of the Graphic Design department. They're a fabulous company that really nurtures creativity and demands quality, and gives me chances to work on projects much bigger and bolder than anything I was capable of getting on my own. Needless to say that I'm not only thrilled with the fact that I've made it viable for my wife to continue her life's trajectory, but also found a job with an employer who I truly enjoy working for.
So does that mean I'm no longer doing any work for nowhereman graphics? No, it just means that I have to pick and choose my clients and my projects much more carefully. I appreciate your patience!
